Chilled Water Valves Maintain Temperature

The importance of valves in industrial systems cannot be disputed. They are essential for controlling the substances that flow through the pipelines of a system. This control is absolutely critical for successful operations to continue, as too much or too little process media could have a drastically negative effect on the final outcome of an operation. In certain systems, chilled water valves are the most appropriate types of valves to install to ensure that necessary control is achieved for operational success.

Chilled water valves are used to transport chilled water for a variety of industrial processes. Air conditioning is probably the most ubiquitous application of chilled water being utilized in an industrial process, which is then applied in a variety of both residential and commercial settings. Some chilled water valves are used to regulate the passage of water by a chiller. The chiller is typically used to cool down the water to the appropriate temperature, as most of the water enters the chiller too warm to be utilized for air conditioning or other processes that really require a low core temperature. If the ambient temperature happens to drop to an amount so low that the water does not necessarily need to go through the chiller in order to effectively perform the task, chilled water valves have the potential to allow some of this already chilly water to skip the chiller completely. A free cooling system, which does not use nearly as much power or energy as the chiller, is often utilized instead of the chiller in instances where chilled water valves bypassed the chiller. After running through the free cooling system, the chilled water is then able to move directly to applications, without activating the actual chiller at all if enough of the water was cooled to the point where the chilled water valves permitted the bypass.

If chilled water valves are working effectively and efficiently, they save a lot of power and energy. The process of running liquids through the chiller is quite costly, and any opportunity to bypass that saves a great deal in energy expenses. As much as 75% of energy expenses could be recouped through the implementation of effective chilled water valves.

Chilled water valves and systems that chill water so they can provide cooling functions are necessary in a wide variety of places. Larger buildings might be forced to utilize chilled water systems throughout the entire year. Even during colder weather, large commercial buildings are often still required to utilize chilled water valves and air conditioning systems for the comfort of their inhabitants. This is especially true in the central part of larger commercial buildings, as the perimeter of the building might require the reverse treatment in order to combat the cold temperatures that have taken over the outdoors. If the chilled water valves are functioning properly, then a company could expect to run the air conditioning system at a much lower cost throughout the colder seasons, as there should be more opportunities for the chilled water valves to bypass the chiller.
